The Hungarian government has been giving a boost to its favored media outlets with state advertisements disguised as commercials for several years. According to a recent complaint submitted to the European Commission, this practice violates EU law, and 441 billion forints should be returned to the state treasury. The EU body is now under considerable pressure to take action on the complaint.
